Unmanned border crossings, road transport

The following list shows the border crossings designated by Swedish Customs for the presentation and arrival notifications for means of transport with an operating authorisation (road traffic).

To arrive at an unmanned border crossing, a special decision by the Swedish Customs on exemption from routing and time (operating authorisation) (Chapter 5, Sections 6 and 9 of the Provision on Customs Matters) is required.

Conditions

The customs formalities to be completed at the designated border control point depend on which the circumstances of the individual vehicle.

  • The vehicle and the goods carried shall be taken on a route where there is a customs office (customs route) or, by special decision of Customs, via another route or time (Article 135(1) of the Customs Code, Chapter 5, Sections 6 and 9 of the Provisions on Customs Matters).
  • The goods must be brought to a designated border control post (Article 135 of the Customs Code, Chapter 5, sections 6 and 9 of the Provisions on Customs Matters).
  • The arrival of the goods must be notified to Swedish Customs (Article 139(1) of the Customs Code).
  • The goods may be removed from the place of notification only after authorisation from Swedish Customs (Article 139(7) of the Code).
  • Non-Union goods that have been presented to Swedish Customs are in temporary storage (Article 144 of the Code). Non-Union goods must be covered by a temporary storage declaration (Article 145 of the Customs Code, Chapter 6 Section 6, Second Paragraph, and Chapter 6(8) of the Provisions on Customs Matters).
