Are you prepared for your customs audit?
There are certain things you need to keep track of in your business, and ahead of a potential audit, it becomes particularly important to already have sound customs procedures in place.
Four things to keep an eye on
Here are four things you need to keep track of ahead of a potential audit:
Appoint a contact person at your company
Please appoint a contact person with whom the auditor can maintain regular communication.
Keep your supporting documents in order
You will save time by keeping the supporting documents we request in order. In the worst-case scenario, you may face additional charges if you cannot produce the correct documents.
Keep track of the company’s customs procedures
Ensure that there are procedure descriptions for the relevant customs procedure, for example procedures describing how the company ensures that customs declarations are correct, that any customs representative is provided with up-to-date and accurate information, that supporting documents are available and stored correctly, and so on.
Maintain good internal controls and self-monitoring
We recommend that your company has internal controls and carries out regular self-monitoring. By detecting errors in good time and reporting them to Swedish Customs yourself, you can avoid customs surcharges.
