Customs office for transport by road between Sweden and Norway

Please see below for information about customs offices designated by Swedish Customs for presentation notifications and arrival notifications.

If the goods are placed in transit, the transit procedure rules will apply.

Conditions

The customs formalities to be completed at a customs office depend on the circumstances of the individual vehicle.

  • The vehicle and accompanying goods must be driven on a road where there is a customs office (customs road). By special decision of the Swedish Customs, this may be done at a time other than normal opening hours (Article 135(1) of the Customs Code, Chapter 5, Sections 6 and 9 of the Provision on Customs Matters).
  • The arrival of the goods must be notified to Swedish Customs (Article 139(1) of the Customs Code).
  • The goods may be removed from the place of notification only after authorisation from Swedish Customs (Article 139(7) of the Code).
  • Non-Union goods that have been presented to Swedish Customs are in temporary storage (Article 144 of the Code). Non-Union goods must be covered by a declaration for temporary storage (Article 145 of the Union Customs Code, Chapter 6, Sections 6 and 8 of the Provision on Customs Matters).

To arrive at a customs office and complete customs formalities at a time other than regular opening hours, a special decision by the Swedish Customs on exemption from time (operating authorisation) (Chapter 5, Sections 6 and 9 of the Provision on Customs Matters) is required.
