Importing footwear

When importing footwear, it is important to classify your product with the correct commodity code, as the commodity code determines what regulations apply to your goods.

All commodity codes can be found in the web-based query system Tulltaxan (Taric). Shoes and boots may be found in chapter 64.

Tulltaxan (Taric)

To be classified as footwear, the goods must have a sole. Products used to protect feet or which are worn outside footwear, which are often made of plastic or similar materials, are not considered to be shoes and are instead classified according to their material.

The most common materials for shoes and boots include rubber, plastic, leather, artificial leather and textile. Footwear is classified based on the material of the upper shoe and the material of the outer sole.
