Refunds for gifts
You may receive gifts from a country outside the EU duty-free, provided that certain conditions have been met. If you paid duties to Swedish Customs, you can apply for a refund.
First ensure that you meet the gift criteria:
The application should contain the following
- Contact information
- A detailed description of the goods to which the application applies
- The current location of the goods
- A description of the issue
- Customs identifier (Customs ID MRN or LRN code)
- Proof that the goods are a gift, for example a picture of the consignment label.
Optional information
- Social security number or coordination number, which enables us to send our response to your digital inbox (e.g. Kivra).
- Bank information, to receive the funds by direct transfer, instead of receiving a paper cheque.
Important
Swedish Customs may receive additional information and, if necessary, demand that you present your goods at a customs office.
Refund of the carrier fee
If the carrier has charged you an administrative or customs declaration fee, you should contact them to ask for a refund of these fees.
