Purchasing goods from an EU Member State

It is, in principle, free movement of goods between the countries of the EU. Consequently, you do not need to submit any import declaration when purchasing goods from an EU Member State.

Free movement means that you can send your product freely within the EU provided that it is a Union goods. A Union goods is a goods that has been cleared through customs in the EU or a goods that has been wholly manufactured in the EU from cleared materials, or from materials that originate in the EU. You do not have to submit an import declaration and pay customs duties when you trade with an EU Member State.

Nevertheless, there are some restrictions to free movement, as each EU Member State has the right to stop goods in certain cases for reasons of environmental, health and safety protection. Examples of such goods are alcohol, tobacco, drugs, medicines and weapons.

Is the country part of the EU?

If you are unsure whether the country you are trading with is part of the EU or not, you can see a list of all EU countries or search for a specific country on the EU website.
