EDI – Approved tests

In order to use EDI to submit declarations to Swedish Customs your company must first obtain both technical and formal approval from us.

Why are approved tests required?

Swedish Customs must ensure that the communication, signature certificates and system are installed correctly and that the software generates the messages according to our technical specifications. This is the reason why your company must perform final tests and we must approve the test results.

An approved test means that Swedish Customs has confirmed that the submitted final test for the relevant message was correct at the time of the test, and that we have verified that the system can send and receive messages in line with the relevant technical specifications. The approval means that the company has obtained technical approval to submit or receive the message in production.

Approved tests for declarants

Your company must perform final tests for all EDI messages you intend to send and receive in production. Once the test results are approved you will receive a Decision of approved tests. The decision specifies which messages were approved at the time of the test and from what date the messages can be used in production.

Some messages require additional authorisations and/or registrations, you must therefore ensure that you have the necessary authorisations and that the registrations for subscription messages are activated.

Once you are in production, the test environment is still available for tests of new messages. You must ensure that the test indicator is activated when using the test environment, otherwise the messages are sent in the production flow. Ask your system supplier about any limitations in the software to send test messages simultaneously with messages in production.

Approved tests for system developers

As a system developer, or if you develop an in-house system, you must perform final tests for the messages and processes you want your system to provide. Once the test results are approved you will receive a Decision of approved tests. The decision stipulates which messages were approved at the time of the test.

After approval, you as system developer may choose to have your approved messages published on tullverket.se. Other companies that want to use your system can then apply for TVEDI and carry out their own final tests as declarants.

If your company has an in-house system you can submit and receive messages in production after approval, provided that the other necessary authorisations are valid and, if needed, registrations for subscription messages are activated.
