Registered exporters (REX)

Registered exporters (REX) is a system used to demonstrate origins eligible for preferential treatment. This system is used in the GSP and ULT. It is also used by the EU in several of the latest free trade agreements with, among others, the United Kingdom and Japan.

Statements on Origin are currently issued as proof of origin (by a registered exporter) for goods originating in GSP states. GSP Certificates, Form A, may be issued by some countries until the end of 2020.

Both systems, Statements on Origin and GSP Certificates, where used in parallel to some degree from 1 January 2017 until December 2020. Now, only REX Statements on Origin may be issued.

From 1 January 2020, the REX System is also used by OCT:s (Overseas Countries and Territories).

REX is also used for exports from the EU in several of the latest free trade agreements with, among others, the United Kingdom and Japan.

REX numbers and verification

A company importing goods from a GSP state or OCT must apply to become a registered exporter to issue statements on origin. The company is issued a REX number at the time of registration.

When importing goods from a GSP state or OCT you must verify the validity of the REX number on the statements on origin.

Verifying REX numbers with the European Commission.
