There are times when you do not have to pay customs duty on goods from a country outside the EU. Even if the goods are duty-free, you may need to pay VAT or other taxes and charges.
Consignments containing goods with a low value
You do not need to pay customs duty if the goods you have bought have a total value of no more than SEK 1,700. However, you do need to pay Swedish VAT.
The duty relief does not include alcohol, tobacco products, perfume or toilet waters, for these items you must always pay customs duty.
Alcohol, tobacco and other restricted goods are also subject to special rules.
If you subscribe to foreign journals (so-called periodical publications), you do not need to pay either customs duty or VAT if the total value is no more than SEK 300.
