Electronic proof of customs clearance for export to consignees in a port or an airport

You may issue your own proof of clearance electronically, under certain conditions. The proof of customs clearance should be sent electronically to a designated consignee, for example a shipping port.

When exporting directly from Sweden to a third country, i.e. the exit customs office is located in Sweden, you may ensure that an electronic proof of customs clearance is generated and sent to a designated consignee.

There are two separate electronic messages that can be used to generate electronic proofs of customs clearance for exportation to consignees in ports or airports, or joint loading locations:

  • UGE – message for standard customs declarations for exportation with simultaneous declaration of the goods
  • ALE – message for notifying Swedish Customs of a declaration via entry in the declarant’s records or for simplified export declarations.

Export declaration or notification with a place of loading code

To issue a proof of customs clearance to the consignee, you are required to enter a place of loading code in the electronic notification. Information about booking number and container number or equivalent should normally be entered in addition to the above.

When sending either message UGE or ALE with a valid place of loading code, the information from your cleared export declaration will be sent electronically to a consignee, for example a shipping port, which is the owner of the indicated place of loading.

There are two types of proof of customs clearance. The type generated depends on which electronic message you used. The UGE message generates ZKB, whereas the ALE generates ZKL:

Requirements for recipients of ZKB and ZKL messages

To receive the ZKB and ZKL messages, it is necessary to register for communication via EDI (TVEDI).
