New investigative procedures make OLAF more efficient

Punishable offence to fail to declare the importation of weapons
There has always existed a requirement for declaring the importation of weapons to Swedish Customs when passing the border. As from 1 July 2012 there will be a tightening of weapons legislation and it will now be a punishable offence failing to submit a declaration. The changes are one stage in the government´s work for preventing the criminal use of firearms and to prevent unsuitable persons gaining access to weapons.

Electronic customs transactions
From 1 April 2012 there is a new security solution för electronic data interchange with Swedish customs.

Changed regulations when travelling with animals
Note that changes in the regulations concerning travel with dogs and cats take effect as from January 1st 2012.
